Who We Are
Baitna Center for women and Child Development is a non governmental organization and register as cultural associations , Ministry of Culture and Media Al Gadaref State. It is founded by a group of concerned women and men community members in 2015 in Al Gadarif state. Its main objective is to empower women and girls and their families . The organization has special focus on the rights of women and children especially the right to live a life free from any form of violence. The organization also pay special attention to the issues of youth. The organization has succeeded in building a network of young motivated community members and volunteers at Al- Gadarif and has made some sort of breakthrough in the engagement with young women, men and youth at grass root level for the rights of women and the girl child.
Membership of the organization include young community members, female and males who are concerned about young women and girls’ chid issues. Before receiving funds from any international donor, the organization has been actively working on implementation of small low scale activities funded by contributions from its membership and business community in Al- Gadarif state such as conducting awareness sessions about harmful practices, providing in kind support to the girls’ primary schools in the poor villages in Bassonda locality. However, the organization has implemented one programme by support from international donor. BCWCD has had a significant experience of service
Approach and Strategy
- BCWCD seeks participation and involvement of the target groups in all phases of the project i.e. from need identification, planning, implementation to evaluation, in collaboration with direct involvement of local organizations and government agencies in guaranteeing long term sustainability.
- BCWCD believes that singular, sectoral development activities alone will not lead to sustainable community development, thus BCWCD is a strong advocate of an integrated approach. Furthermore, recognizing that BCWCD shares project cost with local communities, organizations and government agencies in the form of cash or kind in creating ownership feeling and a sense of responsibility that adds in sustainability of the project

Brief history on initiation of BCWCD
BCWCD has had a significant experience of service delivery since 2015 in the areas of women and children rights, protection, education ,health and economic empowerment of women. We pride ourselves with the overwhelming support and acceptance we get from the community in projects areas and all stakeholders. We are guided by the principles of accountability, collective responsibility, transparency, equity and social justice among others as evident in the profile.
Baitna Center for Women and Child Development objectives
- To empower women and girls and qualify them in the economic, social and health fields so as to increase the opportunities and to improve the standard of living for them and their families.
- To ensure and facilitate the availability of quality educational opportunity to every child everywhere. We provide support, assistance and sponsorship to underprivileged and marginalized individual children in their education. The sponsorship covers the school fees, uniform , books and others school provisions.
- To pay care to the whole family health an warfare and to undertake the dissemination of awareness and good habits through information sessions in this field.
- To work towards the enhancement and strengthening of the child’s rights in all fields especially the right for education and to enlighten families and communities with these rights.
- To work towards the enhancement and strengthening of women’s rights in all fields and to combat violence and bad habits which are detrimental to women and to disseminate awareness among families and communities of these rights and to endeavor to raise the spirit of citizenship among the different segments of the community.
- To provide legal, social and health services and consultancies for women and girls and their families, and to increase women participation in the public domain for the sake of developing their community.
- to contribute to the eradication of poverty and reduction of misery focused on support economic empowerment of the vulnerable and the poor especially women.
